Tiles are cropped 1:1 at full resolution with no resize or quality loss. Prefer PNG for a perfect round-trip.

Optional. A few pixels of overlap helps external AI upscalers blend seams when you reassemble.
No folder selected (ZIP download will be used)

Each tile is named with a unique order number plus row/column so the reassembler can put them back in order.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your source image Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP poster, banner, or photo that is too large for one-pass AI enhancement.
  2. Pick a grid and output folder Select 2×2, 3×3, or custom rows and columns. Choose an output folder in Chrome or Edge, or download a ZIP pack.
  3. Enhance tiles, then reassemble Run each numbered tile through your preferred AI upscaler, keep the filenames, and open the image grid reassembler.
  4. Optional: request free Human + AI help Prefer a real prepress review? Upload your files and note “Split Image” — our team will run the same task manually with AI assistance and email you back at no charge.

Every step above can also be handled by our team — use the Human + AI upload button if you prefer personal assistance.

Why split before you enhance

Large print files often hit size limits in external AI upscalers. The image grid splitter turns one artwork into a numbered pack of tiles so each piece can receive more detail without choking the enhancer.

Every tile name carries a unique order number plus row and column markers, and the pack includes a small manifest JSON so the image grid reassembler can rebuild the full layout later.

Built for print workflows

Use this when you are preparing posters, vinyl banners, or catalog spreads that need sharper detail before upload. Optional edge overlap helps AI tools blend seams when tiles are stitched back together.

After reassembly, confirm resolution with the DPI resolution checker and crop to final size with the print size cropper.

From enhanced pack to press

When the reunited file looks right, send it through the file uploader or start a product order for vinyl banners and large format pieces.

Frequently asked questions

Which grid size should I use?

Start with 3×3 for most posters and banners. Use 2×2 when the source is only moderately large, or 4×4 when a single AI pass still struggles with file size. Custom rows and columns are available when your artwork aspect ratio needs an uneven split. Fewer tiles mean simpler reassembly; more tiles give external AI tools smaller pieces to enhance.

Can I choose an output folder?

Yes on Chromium browsers such as Chrome and Edge. Click Choose output folder, grant permission, and each numbered tile plus the manifest writes straight into that folder. If your browser does not support folder picking, leave the folder blank and the tool downloads one ZIP pack with every tile inside.

Should I use edge overlap?

Overlap is optional. Set a small value such as 16 to 32 pixels when your external AI enhancer softens edges or creates visible seams. The reassembler crops the overlap back out using the manifest so the final image does not double those shared pixels. Leave overlap at zero for a clean hard split when seams are not a concern.

Will splitting change print quality by itself?

No. The splitter only crops pixel-perfect tiles from your original file. Quality gains come from whatever external AI software you run on each tile afterward. Keep PNG when you want lossless tiles, then verify the reunited file with the DPI resolution checker before uploading to Cheap RUSH Printing.

Can your team do this for me instead of using the online tool?

Yes. The browser tool is free and private, but if you would rather not rely on it alone, upload your files via our complimentary file uploader and request Human + AI help with “Split Image”. Our prepress team will review manually — with AI assistance — and reply for free.
